Who Were The Nethersole Family?

School Uniform

Our school colours are royal blue and grey and we prefer children to wear these colours.

The school uniform can be purchased through the school office and incorporates the ‘windmill logo’ on the sweatshirts and poloshirts.

We would ask that all children are dressed in a practical manner as they tend to get upset if they get dirty and think that they will get in trouble!  Please remember that at playtimes they do run around and serious accidents can happen with shoes with heels or slippery soles.

All children also need suitable clothing for PE such as tee-shirt, shorts and pumps, all marked in a suitably labelled bag please.

We have school sweatshirts, poloshirts, book bags, and PE bags, with school logo, all available from the school office.

We strongly recommend that all clothing, footwear and bags be labelled including any other personal items your child may bring into school for a lesson.

Please ensure that children do not wear jewellery to school; jewellery can be dangerous.  Mobile phones are not to be brought into school.

School Hours

School starts at 8.55 and finishes at 15.15.

How your children will be looked after in school

The atmosphere in school is one of caring.  The children are encouraged to be thoughtful towards each other, toward caring adults and towards the school environment.

We have dinner supervisors who are responsible for the children at lunchtime.  Playtime and outdoor play are always supervised.
It would be sensible to ensure that your child is insured on your own policy, as the County has no insurance cover for children in schools.

The Headteacher is willing to administer medicines as long as they are given to her personally and are clearly labelled.  We ask you to complete a ‘medicines form’ before you leave the medication in school.  We do not administer non-prescription medicine.

The Governing Body has adopted a complaints procedure.  If you have any complaints or concerns please contact the Headteacher.

School Rules

There are a few school rules.  The ones which exist are there for safety purposes.
All classes discuss school rules and formulate their own version.

We have a behaviour anti-bullying policy in school which explains standards we expect and sanctions that may be imposed.

Discipline in school

Discipline is consistent so that the children know what is expected of them.  We place a great emphasis on manners and acting in a caring manner towards the other children and adults in school.

We have in school a behaviour policy, which incorporates both school ‘rules’ and expected standards of behaviour, as well as anti-bullying.

Certificates are awarded for good behaviour, attitude and hard work. We also operate a ‘Golden Pupil’ scheme in each class to reward those children who display consistent good behaviour.

Stickers and prizes are awarded for excellent, good and improved attendance. Children who have a high level of attendance are able to access the curriculum and make due progress.

Cyber-bullying

Cyber-bullying is treated with the same seriousness as any other form of bullying. As part of Anti-bullying Week in 2009, some useful information has been made available for parents and children by the Warwickshire Anti-bullying Partnership.

Alerts for Emergency School Closure

Sign up to get a text alert on your mobile phone if the school has to close due to bad weather over the winter months. This is a free service available from the Warwickshire Schools website.

Who Were The Nethersole Family?

The school, like the Nethersole school in Polesworth nearby, takes its name from the charitable foundation established by Sir Francis Nethersole in the 17th century. You can read more about the family using this link to Polesworth Parish History.
